News in Glastonbury

Gambling venues in Glastonbury will take part in Responsible Gambling Week, the biggest ever industry-wide campaign to promote responsible gambling.

Responsible Gambling Week runs from November 1-7 and involves every major operator in the UK and Ireland from all five industry sectors, casinos, bookmakers, arcades, bingo and online, and is supported by gambling charities. Staff at gambling venues will discuss with customers, how to keep gambling fun and safe.

Location: Windmill Hill, Glastonbury

Two appliances from Glastonbury and Street were mobilised to reports of a bus on fire at the above location.
On arrival crews discovered a single storey twenty one seater coach well alight, all persons were accounted for.
Crews used four breathing apparatus, one compressed air foam jet and one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire. Crews then used a thermal imaging camera to make sure the area was safe.
There was heat damage to overhead cables above the coach but the duty of care of these was left with Western Power.

Location: Near Pilton, Shepton Mallet

Two crews from Shepton mallet were mobilised to a report of a road traffic collision at the above location. Upon arrival the crews confirmed a three vehicle collision.

One person was still within one of the vehicles. Although they were not physically trapped the crew removed the roof of the vehicle using hydraulic cutting equipment in order to assist the ambulance crew with safely extricating the casualty.

Location: Badgers Green Road, Walton, Street

One fire appliance from Street attended an incident involving a 12 year old boy locked in a downstairs cloakroom, and his mother locked out of the property. Crews gained access to the property using a triple extension ladder, and forced entry to the cloak room to release the boy. No one was injured.
