Glastonbury's town clerk has moved to reassured Lowerside allotment holders in the town after concerns were raised that affordable housing could be build on the land.

Allotment holders expressed their worries about losing their space after receiving a letter from Glastonbury Town Council saying the Lowerside Allotments could be a site where the building of affordable housing was being considered with money from the government's Town Fund that Glastonbury is eligible for.

More people could be treated in their own homes or designated "frailty units" this winter to relieve pressure on the NHS during the ongoing pandemic.

The Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), which is responsible for allocating the county's health resources, has published its plan for how hospital services will cope with additional demand over the winter months.

Baltonsborough charity PROMISEworks has been chosen, along with fellow local group Connect Elim, to receive a donation of more than £1,500 from NFU Mutual agents and their staff at the Wells agency, from a national £1 million Agency Giving Fund launched by NFU Mutual's head office.

In light of the national emergency this country is facing, NFU Mutual, the UK's leading rural insurer, allocated £1 millionto help local frontline charities at this difficult time.
