Location: Sub Road, Butleigh, Street
Fire appliances from Street and Somerton along with the Heavy Rescue Unit from Glastonbury were mobilised to a report of a road traffic collision with one person trapped.
On arrival at the scene crews confirmed a one vehicle road traffic collision with the vehicle on its roof. One male casualty was trapped by his legs within the vehicle. Crews carried out first aid before the arrival of ambulance crews and got to work removing the driver side door using hydraulic cutting equipment and small tools. Fire crews released the casualty from the vehicle into the hands of the paramedics, who was transported by ambulance landrover to a waiting air ambulance.

Two crews from Glastonbury were mobilised to a report of a car on fire outside a property.

Location: Street Road, Glastonbury
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received a call from Police requesting our attendance at a single vehicle road traffic collision where all persons were out of the vehicle but a dog was trapped within the vehicle.
On arrival crews got to work using one hydraulic combi tool to release the dog uninjured from the boot of the vehicle. The vehicle was attached to a winch and removed from the carriageway by the crews and environmental absorption pads were also applied to the underside of the vehicle to prevent any spillages.

Somerset County Council is seeking views on proposals to change the support it provides to some children and families.
Support provided by other organisations for families in this position would not be affected by the proposals, nor would the Council's support for families with more serious issues and challenges.
Work to modernise learning disability support is being brought forward with the closure of the Six Acres Day Centre in Taunton next year.
Some, such as the Seahorses centre in Minehead, will be developed where they are if there is scope for change, others will close with local options for community-based support developed.

Location: Compton Road, Shepton Mallet
One fire appliance from Shepton Mallet attended a car on fire which was well alight on arrival. Crews put the fire out using a compressed air foam jet. The cause of the fire was deemed as deliberate and Police were informed.
The vehicle sustained severe damage, and duty of care was left with the Police.

Location: Old School Close, Ashcott
One fire appliance from Street, one from Glastonbury and one from Bridgwater were mobilised to reports of a lounge on fire. Fire Control mobilised a fourth appliance, from Somerton, due to the information callers were giving.
On arrival, crews confirmed the property well alight and got to work with one main jet, one hose reel jet and two breathing apparatus wearers. Shortly after, a request was made for a further two appliances. These were sent from Wells and Bridgwater.
At 2243, crews confirmed this was 3 properties involved in fire. Crews were using 6 breathing apparatus attempting to put the fire out. A request was made for the electricity board and gas board to attend, due to utilities being involved in fire.
At 2330, crews confirmed utilities isolated to the adjacent properties but not the middle property where the fire started. Crews were still tackling the fire with jets attempting to put the fire out.
