Police say targeted patrols and local engagement have helped tackle concerns about suspected drug use and dealing around the church area opposite Strode College in Street.

Avon and Somerset Police said the issue was raised as a neighbourhood policing priority on Monday, 10 February 2026, after ongoing reports about activity near the church grounds facing Strode College.

Officers say they responded with increased patrols at key times, along with visits to the college to liaise with staff and gather information about what was happening in the area.

In an update closing the priority on Saturday, 21 February 2026, the Neighbourhood Policing Team said patrols had been carried out around the college and surrounding roads, including the church grounds opposite Strode College.

Police said officers had also been engaging with students, residents and church staff, and that the focus was on disrupting suspected dealing, reducing anti-social behaviour and keeping the area feeling safe.

The force said patrols will continue when officers have capacity.

Residents in Street and the wider Glastonbury and Street patch are being urged to keep reporting suspicious activity at the time it is happening, so police can respond and build a clearer picture.
