Glastonbury RITS Day raises £13,579 for air ambulance

Glastonbury's RITS Day has raised an impressive £13,579.29 for Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance following this year's motorcycle ride-out and family fun day.

Riders In The Sky has now confirmed the final fundraising total from the event, which returned to Tor Leisure on Sunday, 30 August, bringing bikers, families, volunteers and supporters together for one of the town's established charity days.

RITS Day is held in memory of Lee Baker, a devoted father who died in a motorcycle crash in 2010.

Lee was himself a keen charity fundraiser, taking part in everything from sponsored skydives to fundraising calendars, and the annual Glastonbury event has continued that spirit by raising money for the air ambulance service.

This year's event began with the traditional motorcycle ride-out before Tor Leisure became the focus of a free family fun day from midday.

Live music, children's entertainment and rides, stalls, food and drink all featured, alongside the raffle and charity auction. Riders paid to join the ride-out, while donations and fundraising continued throughout the day.

Announcing the final figure, the RITS team said: "We are absolutely thrilled to announce that RITS Day 2026 raised an incredible £13,579.29 for Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance."

Organisers said the total had been built up through support across the event, including donations, merchandise sales, raffle and auction entries, traders, sponsors and those taking part in the ride-out.

They added: "We simply couldn't do this without the amazing community that gets behind RITS year after year."

The group thanked everyone who volunteered, sponsored the event, lined the streets to watch the motorcycles or simply helped spread the word.

They said: "Every donation, every purchase and every bit of support adds up, and together you've helped us raise another fantastic amount for a lifesaving charity that means so much to us."

The £13,579.29 raised through RITS Day 2026 will go to Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, continuing the event's long-running fundraising in Lee Baker's memory.
