A new date has been announced for Clarks Village's inaugural Pawsome Pooch event.

After being postponed out of respect for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the Somerset outlet's free, dog-friendly weekend event will now be held on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd October.

Dogs and their owners are invited to Clarks Village, in Street, between 11am and 4pm for a stellar line-up of pup-tastic activities including trick displays and have-a-go trick sessions, pooch pampering and the chance for one pooch to be crowned the outlet's 'top dog' in a brand-new competition.

The Pawsome Pooch canine casting competition will see guests offered free mini photo shoots of their dogs, with judges shortlisting the top 10 portraits for a public vote on Clarks Village's social media channels. The region's favourite will become the first-ever furry face of Clarks Village as well as winning £500 of shopping vouchers.

The competition has proved so popular that pre-bookable slots were all snapped up within 48 hours of going live – all appointments booked for the original weekend will be honoured for the rescheduled dates. Guests can also enter their dog through free walk-up portraits from the event's roaming professional photographer across the weekend. As well as their chance to be voted top dog, entrants through the competition's official photographers will be rewarded with a free digital paw-trait of their dog. Alternatively, owners can nominate their canine companion by uploading their picture to Instagram during the event with the hashtag #CVPawsomePooch*.

In addition to the canine casting sessions, the Pawsome Pooch event includes:

  • The Pooch Pamper Pod offering free mini pamper sessions by award-winning groomer Kelly Davis with grooming tips, nail trimming and a spritz of pet cologne. A qualified pet esthetician, Kelly holds the title of 'Britain's Best Groomer', after winning BBC's Pooch Perfect.
  • The free 'pet park' with show dog trick displays by Passion for Pets alongside 'have-a-go' trick sessions where dogs will have their chance to learn some new tricks taught by the experts.
  • Fundraising for animal rescue charity Happy Landings which will be selling its popular handcrafted gifts from local volunteers.
  • Pooch Paw-Traits by amazing illustrator Alan Snow, offering bespoke live dog sketches via walk-ins on a first come, first served basis. Alan is a renowned published children's literature author and illustrator and will be taking donations for Happy Landings.
  • Special dog-friendly promotions at select Clarks Village brands, including a competition at Radley London to win a matching handbag and purse and samples of 'Paw-secco', their dog-friendly wine, at Mountain Warehouse.

Chris Davis, Centre Director at Clarks Village, said: "Clarks Village has always been dog-friendly, welcoming owners and their four-legged companions into the outlet and many of its stores. To celebrate this, we are excited to host the exclusive Pawsome Pooch event for the first time. Whether it's taking part in a professional photoshoot, relaxing at the pooch pamper pod, or learning some fun new tricks, we are paw-sitive guests and their furry friends will have a great time at our Pawsome Pooch event."
