Traders hoping to secure a spot at this year's Glastonbury Frost Fayre have until 4 pm tomorrow, Friday, 4 September, to get their applications in.

The deadline comes after extraordinary early demand for pitches, with more than 250 applications submitted in the first 24 hours after the process opened last month.

The Frost Fayre returns to Glastonbury town centre on Saturday, 28 November, bringing stalls, live entertainment, festive food, crafts and Christmas activities across the town.

Applications are available for outside pitches, indoor stalls at the Town Hall and smaller "suitcase stalls" using a small table or clothes rail outdoors.

Glastonbury Town Council has stressed that the process is not first come, first served, meaning getting an application in earlier does not automatically improve a trader's chances.

All applications will be considered after the deadline, and previous participation does not guarantee a High Street pitch. Only one application is allowed per trader or business.

The scale of demand was revealed last month by Mayor of Glastonbury Cllr Zoe Price, who told councillors that more than 250 applications had arrived within the first day.

That leaves organisers with the enviable, if slightly daunting, task of working through a substantial field before deciding who will trade at one of Glastonbury's busiest annual events.

The Frost Fayre itself will run from 10 am until 6 pm, with the Mayor officially opening proceedings at noon from the Melodrome Stage at the top of the High Street.

Live performances are planned across five stages at Benedict Street, Magdalene Street, Northload Street, Archers Way and the Melodrome Stage, alongside buskers and street entertainment.

The Market Square Christmas tree lights are due to be switched on at 5 pm, with children's fairground rides in St Dunstan's Car Park and further stalls spread across venues including Abbey House, St John's Church, the United Reformed Church and St Benedict's Church.

A park-and-ride service is also planned from Herbies Field, with overflow parking at Butler's Carnival Park.

For traders, though, the immediate date to remember is Friday.

Applications must be submitted online by 4 pm on 4 September, with no paper applications accepted. Details and application links are available through the Glastonbury Town Council Frost Fayre page.

With hundreds already in the running, anyone still sitting on a half-finished application probably doesn't need another reminder that Christmas waits for no trader.
