Fundraiser launched in memory of Glastonbury mum Emma Mim Baker-Cooke
A fundraiser has been launched to support the family of Emma Mim Baker-Cooke, a much-loved Glastonbury mum who died suddenly on 28 December.
Emma, described by friends as "colourful, beautiful, caring, fun and an incredible artist," was a key figure in the YEAST scrapstore community. She leaves behind her husband Simon Baker-Cooke and their three children, Molly-Boo, Alfred, and Arthur, who lost their mum just days after Christmas and shortly before Alfred's birthday.
The fundraiser, organised by family friend Kama McKenzie, aims to raise £5,000 to support the Baker-Cooke family during this difficult time. So far, £1,320 has been raised from 62 supporters. The funds will help the family cover immediate costs and, when they feel ready, offer the children the opportunity to create positive memories in the future.
Kama, who has been involved in community projects alongside Simon, said she felt compelled to act after hearing the news. She described Simon as someone who often prioritises helping others over accepting support himself.
"The community in Glastonbury always amazes me with their generosity – let's all wrap around the Baker-Cooke family by supporting in any way you can," Kama shared on the fundraising page.
Donations can be made through JustGiving, with all funds going directly to the family. The page highlights the secure and straightforward nature of the platform, ensuring all contributions reach the family quickly and efficiently.
