Fundamentals of Bushcraft

Fyrd Woods

UNTIL Sunday 9th May

After a long break we are pleased to announce that we at Avalon Bushcraft are opening up again for courses.

As nature wakes up and the woodlands become busy with life again, as do we. I am delighted to be able to invite you to our first course of 2021, in our brand new site, Fyrd Woods, a three-acre plot of ancient woodland within a 140-acre forest steeped in history with a rich biodiversity.

This one-day course will cover the fundamentals of bushcraft, ranging from tool use and safety, fire-lighting in a variety of methods, backcountry cooking, shelter building, and tree and plant identification.

Kit to bring:

  • sensible outdoor clothes and footwear,
  • a fixed blade knife (if you do not have one we will provide you with one),
  • a packed lunch, although we will be cooking up a feast (includes meat),
  • and above all, an open enthusiastic mind.

The location of the course is in Banwell woods, along the A368 in between Banwell and Sandford.

If coming westbound, the gate is on your right, with a cone at the entrance and a sign marking private woodland.

You can also find the location on Google Maps by searching "banwell ocre caves" or alternatively Wood, Banwell BS29 6PQ.

We will be waiting for you at the gate for arrival at 9.30am. If you can lift share, it is preferable, as parking is limited.

This course is an over-18s course, however we will allow those of 16 to participate if accompanied by an adult.

The price of the course is £60 in total, with a £10 deposit paid via Paypal to [email protected] upon booking. We have a total of eight places on this course, so get in touch fast to avoid disappointment.

Any questions don't hesitate to message us or call on 07714 707004. See you in the woods.
