Street's High Street has a new lease of life this week as a new One Stop store officially opened its doors at 85 High Street — just weeks after the return of the village's main Post Office at the same address.

The store, which opened on Friday 18 July, was welcomed with strong community support. One couple reportedly queued from 9am to be first through the doors, while a lucky early visitor won a Golden Ticket prize.

Run by Hardik Pandya and his family, the new One Stop marks a significant milestone in the regeneration of Street's central shopping area. Alongside the Post Office, which reopened in June, the store brings a full range of everyday essentials and services back into the village centre.

Located in the former WHSmith building, the One Stop offers groceries, household items, snacks, newspapers, and food-to-go options, along with an in-store Evri parcel shop, National Lottery terminal, and free cash withdrawals.

Owned by Tesco but operated as a separate brand, One Stop runs more than 900 stores across England and Wales. The Street branch is independently managed, and already proving popular with locals.

"This is a huge win for the village," a spokesperson for the Street and Glastonbury Chamber of Commerce said. "Having the Post Office return and One Stop moving in will make a real difference to residents and businesses alike."

Building work is still being completed in some areas, but the store is now open for business and serving customers seven days a week.

Locals are being encouraged to pop in and take a look — and to continue supporting businesses on Street's High Street as it enters a new chapter.
