Between market stalls and moonlight: Glastonbury & Street’s week of sound and soul

What's On in Street and Glastonbury is brought to you by The Loft - your local spot for great food, live music and late nights.
Glastonbury and Street don't usually rest — and this week (25 September – 1 October) they're out to prove it. From community singing to rooftop saxophones, from belly dancing to basket weaving, there's a little something for everyone (including cider, obviously).
Thursday 25 September opens with Sounds Joyful at St John's Hub, 10:30am–12pm — a dementia‑inclusive music session that's just as much about tea and togetherness.

That evening, Tom Harding brings his Through the Decades show to The Loft in Street — a dinner and live music night blending 1960s charm with disco flash. Prefer something grassroots? Art Bank Introducing in Shepton has young local musicians from The Blue School on stage from 7:45pm — and it's free.
Friday 26 September has you covered whether you're feeling reflective or ready to rave. Glastonbury Carers Group meets at 10:30am for a relaxed chat and support. Later, Bristol Ensemble – Salon Sessions comes to Alhampton Tabernacle with sets at 6:30pm and 8:30pm. Meanwhile, the Live Music Weekender kicks off in Shepton with Banco de Gaia and Mike Dennis.
Saturday 27 September is where the town comes alive. Glastonbury's monthly town-wide market brings stalls, crafts and local colour. The Hope Bourne exhibition launches at the Somerset Rural Life Museum alongside a Willow Basket Workshop led by Sarah LeBreton (booking required). Elsewhere, the Quiet Day at Ammerdown offers a peaceful day of reflection, while the Community Rally in Glastonbury takes over Market Place with voices raised for human rights and unity.

And just beyond the town lines, Charlton House Harvest Festival is going all out at Montigo Resorts Somerset. From 12 noon until late: free live music (folk, sax, acoustic and more), food stalls, drinks and late‑summer revelry set in a Georgian estate.
Meanwhile in Shepton, Tools to Improve Mental Well‑Being and Manage Anxiety runs at Ammerdown Centre (9:30am–4pm) and the Somerset Comic Con & Gaming Festival is filling the Bath & West Showground with cosplay, comics and retro games. The Amulet's music weekender continues into the night with Da Fuchaman, DJ Karl and Timbali.
Sunday 28 September is your last chance to catch Shelley Dyer-Gibbins' open studio near North Wootton, with mini workshops and prints to buy.
By Tuesday 30 September, the Turkish belly dance class with Nazreen is back on (7–8pm, Assembly Rooms, Glastonbury). Wear something stretchy.
In Glastonbury & Street news this week:
- Election triggered in Street following councillor's death — voters will head to the polls in October
- Motown & Soul night to take over The Loft next month — disco, dressing up, and dancing are encouraged
It's a full‑on week of local culture, music and making — whether you're after a singalong, a debate, a disco or a drum circle, it's all right here.
