Millfield celebrates outstanding GCSE and BTEC results

Millfield students celebrate outstanding GCSE and BTEC success, with over half earning grades 9-8 and a 100% pass rate.

Millfield students are celebrating exceptional GCSE and BTEC results, with more than half of the top 100 pupils securing grades 9–8 and a 100 per cent pass rate.

Among those recognised was Street student Naomi Brooke, who joined Millfield in Year 10 and achieved nine 9s, one 8 and an A in Additional Maths. Alongside her studies, Naomi immersed herself in the arts, performing in concerts and drama productions, while also playing football, co-captaining Millfield's girls' basketball team and completing the Ten Tors challenge.

Langport's Mila Brooke, who joined in Year 7, achieved eight 9s and one 8. A talented sportswoman, she has represented Somerset in both cricket and netball, travelled to Sri Lanka on a cricket tour, and this year gained her grade 8 in solo acting.

From Carmarthenshire, Brychan James, who has been part of the Millfield community since Pre-Prep, achieved seven 9s, one 8, one 7 and an A in Additional Maths. An all-round sportsman, he competes nationally in trampolining and placed fifth at the National Schools Finals in Derby.

Other top achievers included:

  • Mimi Woodliffe, from Highbridge, who earned seven 9s and two 8s alongside excelling in equestrian sport and music.
  • Dinobi Okafor, from Yeovil, with six 9s and four 8s, balancing hockey with academic commitments.
  • Molly Thornburn, from Glastonbury, who gained five 9s and four 8s, and has made her mark as a singer.
  • Izzy Jones, from Brussels, who secured six 9s and two 8s, representing Millfield and Somerset in rugby.
  • Toby Morris, from Street, with five 9s and a Distinction* in Hospitality and Catering, who also plays golf at county level.
  • Lottie Raby-Brown, from Wedmore, with six 9s, one 8 and two 7s, who sings in school choirs and recently achieved her Duke of Edinburgh silver award.
  • Joely Chamberlain, with five 9s and three 8s, recognised in both netball and rugby.
  • Ayden Wang, an exceptional mathematician, who achieved six 9s and two 8s.
  • Lily Jones and Alex Major-Olszewski, both from Glastonbury, who achieved strong results while excelling in athletics, rugby and fencing.
  • Zara Barnett, from Henley-on-Thames, who earned four 9s and four 8s and rows competitively at national level.
  • Elis Davies, from Wedmore, with four 9s and five 8s, who is also a keen swimmer.
  • Karoline Tochtermann, from Hamburg, with four 9s and three 8s, who has represented Millfield in golf across Europe.
  • Victoria Baughan, from Oakhill, with two 9s and seven 8s, who fences at national level and performs in school productions.
  • Asta Maddox, from Wells, who achieved three 9s and five 8s while excelling in swimming, netball and singing.

Other students who achieved highly include Isla Sully, Monty Price-Bailey, Evie Twelvetree, Lottie Godsell, William Prideaux, Emma Wyse, Charlotte Ming, Jose Rodriguez, Lottie Richardson and George German.

Headmaster Gavin Horgan said: "These excellent results are a testament to all of our pupils' hard work and dedication and the quality of academic teaching at Millfield. There are so many multi-talented pupils amongst the names listed in our top achievers; not only have they done well academically, but they have also excelled in music, sport and co-curricular activities as well, which is what Millfield is all about."
