A significant road closure will affect the A361 Edgarley Road between Glastonbury and Shepton Mallet next month.

The road will be closed overnight for resurfacing works, disrupting drivers in the area.

From 5 August until 16 August, the A361 Edgarley Road, near Millfield Prep School, will be closed between 11 p.m. and 6:30 a.m. on weekdays.

The affected stretch runs from the junction with Ashwell Lane to the junction with Wick Lane, extending into Wick Lane northwards for 50 metres—a total closure distance of 790 metres.

The phased resurfacing works will allow Kier to perform "jetting works" on behalf of Somerset Highways, ensuring the road is adequately maintained and safe for future use.

During the closure, a diversion route will be in place. Drivers will be redirected through West Penard, Pilton, Shepton Mallet, Croscombe, Coxley, and Glastonbury.

Motorists are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and allow extra travel time to accommodate the detour.
