Concerns over rising crime in Glastonbury were a focal point at a recent council meeting, with residents and councillors noting a twelve-year-old drug dealer and drug dealers using public toilets as a marketplace for their wares.

The full council meeting held earlier this month saw community leaders discussing the urgent need for intervention and support.

The council reviewed recent police crime figures, revealing Glastonbury as one of the highest crime areas in Somerset for its size.

Councillor Indra Donfrancesca said: "Glastonbury as a whole is a worry."

Councillor Nick Cottle expressed concerns over violence and sexual offences, adding, "The figure looks terrible."

A police spokesperson said: "We recognise the community's concerns about rising crime and are working diligently to address them. We are increasing patrols in the area and collaborating with local partners to tackle these issues head-on. Reporting incidents helps us allocate resources effectively and ensures we can take appropriate action against those committing crimes."

The spokesperson emphasised the importance of reporting incidents to help target police resources effectively.

For emergencies, call 999, and incidents can also be reported by calling 101 or online at Avon and Somerset Police.
