Glastonbury residents are being asked to have their say on the future of the St. Dunstan's House Community Health and Wellbeing Centre as Glastonbury Town Council opens a public consultation on the project.

The council is looking to gather community feedback on the proposed renovations to St. Dunstan's House, which will provide a central hub for healthcare services, community activities, and local business support.

The project is part of the wider Glastonbury Town Deal, and aims to create a welcoming space for NHS services, social care, local charities, and community groups, all with the goal of improving the health and wellbeing of Glastonbury's residents.

The council is proposing to refurbish the Grade II listed building and add a modern glazed atrium to connect St. Dunstan's House to the Town Hall. This would create a versatile complex for gatherings, meetings, and a range of health and wellbeing services. The new centre will focus on helping vulnerable people while also supporting local businesses and boosting the town's economy.

The project is already well underway, with £1.76 million secured in funding. However, the council faces a shortfall of £811,474 and is considering borrowing funds through a loan of up to £850,000 to complete the work. The Town Council has assured residents that the loan repayments will not increase council tax, and will instead be covered by the income generated by the new centre and council reserves.

Glastonbury Town Council is now inviting residents to take part in a short consultation to help shape the future of the St. Dunstan's House project. The survey takes around 5 to 10 minutes to complete and includes information about the plans, followed by three simple questions.

Locals will be asked if they support the project and what services they'd like to see at the new centre.

Residents can take part in the consultation by visiting the Glastonbury Town Council website, or by contacting [email protected] for more information.
