The bright lights, the thrill of the rides, the smell of candyfloss in the air — the Glastonbury Tor Fair is back, promising six days of old-school fairground fun.

Kicking off on Monday 8 September and running until Saturday 13 September at Herbies Field, the fair will be open weekday evenings from 5 pm to 9 pm and all day Saturday from 1 pm to 10 pm. Expect big rides, children's attractions, games and food stalls, topped off with a free firework spectacular on Saturday night.

A fair with centuries of history

This isn't just any fair. The Tor Fair is one of the oldest surviving fairs in the country, with roots going back hundreds of years. Once a huge trading event for farmers and merchants, it's evolved over the centuries into the travelling funfair that generations of Glastonbury families have grown up with.

From traditional stalls to modern thrill rides, the Tor Fair has been a staple of Somerset life — a place for communities to come together, for teenagers to taste independence, and for children to experience the magic of their first ride.

Still a highlight today

Though the times have changed, the fair's pull remains the same: excitement, colour and a final splash of summer before autumn rolls in. Organisers say this year's event will deliver all the classics — from the waltzers to the dodgems — as well as plenty of food and drink to keep visitors fuelled.

And with the Saturday fireworks display lighting up the skies over Glastonbury Tor, the 2025 Tor Fair looks set to go out with a bang.
