Street’s SEND Supper Club returns — but you’ll have to be quick

A unique supper club for families with children who have special educational needs and disabilities returns to Street on 16 September.

A one-of-a-kind supper club designed especially for families of children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) is returning to Street this month — and there are just a few tables left.

The Loft's SEN Supper Club will be held on 16 September, offering a rare opportunity for SEND families to enjoy a relaxed, no-judgement meal out together. The event, now in its second run following a hugely successful launch earlier this summer, transforms the venue into a fully inclusive space where parents can breathe easy and children are free to just be themselves.

Noise is welcomed. Tablets are fine. Meltdowns don't turn heads — they're understood.

Owner Mark Tobin said the inspiration came directly from conversations with local parents who felt that traditional dining just wasn't accessible for their families. "So many families with SEND children tell us they've stopped going out altogether. This evening is about removing that pressure — stimming is welcome, noise is fine, and nobody has to explain or apologise," he said.

The Loft will close its doors to the general public for the event, creating a peaceful, purposefully designed space for SEND families only. There will be an interactive soft play area for younger children, set up by Mendip Bouncy Castles, alongside a quiet chill-out space for anyone needing a sensory break.

Older children are encouraged to bring whatever helps them feel at ease — from fidget toys to noise-cancelling headphones. And for those who struggle with waiting, families can pre-order their meals so food is ready as they arrive.

The menu has been carefully curated with SEND needs in mind. A sensory-friendly two-course children's meal (main and ice cream) is just £5, while adults can order as usual from the main menu.

Bookings are not available online — they're being handled directly via email or phone to ensure the night remains strictly for SEND families. And demand has been high. With word spreading after the first event, just a handful of tables remain for the 16 September supper club.

To reserve your place, contact The Loft directly via social media, email [email protected], or call 01458 446885.

"This is more than just a meal out," Mark added. "It's about connection, community, and creating a space where SEND families can truly relax and be themselves."
