The Glastonbury Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group, operating under the Localism Act 2011, has launched a 'call for sites' to landowners within the Glastonbury Parish Boundary.

This initiative is a crucial step in preparing the Neighbourhood Plan, which aims to shape the area's development from 2015 to 2040.

The Steering Group is seeking to identify potential sites for development, encompassing a broad range of possibilities such as infill (including large gardens suitable for building), barn conversions, brownfield sites, or general land use. The call is open to all landowners within the Glastonbury Parish Boundary who wish to have their land considered for residential, economic, retail, or recreational development. There is no minimum size requirement for the land, ensuring inclusivity in the selection process.

Landowners interested in submitting their site for consideration are requested to email [email protected]k or send their proposals to the Glastonbury Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group at the Town Council Offices.

Submissions should include the landowner's contact details, the location or address of the land (preferably with a map), and the proposed land use. The deadline for submissions is 29th February 2024.

The Neighbourhood Plan is a key tool for communities, including local residents and businesses, to guide the development of their neighbourhood. It encompasses creating a shared vision, proposing new development locations, protecting local green spaces, and influencing the design of new buildings.

This call for sites is an informal opportunity for landowners and developers to propose potential development sites within the parish. While it doesn't guarantee allocation for development or compel proposers to seek planning consent, it aids the Steering Group in understanding how community needs can be met with available land.

The Glastonbury NHP Steering Group appreciates the community's involvement and is committed to ensuring that the Neighbourhood Plan reflects the collective vision and requirements of Glastonbury's residents and stakeholders.
