Crime rose in Glastonbury during June, with 146 offences recorded—up from 131 the previous month.

The increase came during the month of Glastonbury Festival, which brings a large influx of visitors to the area and is often associated with higher levels of reported crime.

Anti-social behaviour saw the biggest jump, rising from 26 incidents in May to 39 in June. This category includes nuisance behaviour, vandalism, and public disturbances. Violent crime remained high, with 47 offences reported in June compared to 43 the previous month. This includes assault, domestic abuse, and other physical confrontations.

Criminal damage and arson cases more than doubled, from 5 to 11, while drug offences rose from 4 to 8. These include possession or supply of illegal substances.

Shoplifting fell slightly, from 18 cases in May to 10 in June. Public order offences, which involve threatening or abusive behaviour, dropped from 27 to 20. Other thefts, including the stealing of unattended belongings, increased slightly from 4 to 5. Robbery remained low, with one incident recorded.

A single case of bicycle theft was also reported in June, and there were no reports of vehicle crime.

A police spokesperson said: "It's not unusual to see an increase in crime during June due to the influx of visitors attending Glastonbury Festival. The rise in anti-social behaviour and drug-related offences reflects this, but we continue to work closely with event organisers and the local community to minimise the impact."

Officers are expected to maintain a visible presence in the town throughout the summer, responding to resident concerns and continuing proactive patrols.
