Glastonbury crime falls as Street sees rise

Glastonbury and Street saw different crime trends in March, with new monthly police figures showing a fall in the town and a rise in the neighbouring village.
A total of 74 crimes were recorded in Glastonbury Town in March 2026, down from 137 in February.
In Street, recorded crime rose to 104 offences in March, up from 81 the month before.
The figures give a month-by-month snapshot of recorded crime across the two communities.
Violent crime was the biggest category in both places.
Glastonbury recorded 16 violent crimes in March, down sharply from 45 in February. In Street, the figure rose from 26 to 45.
Violent crime can include assaults, threats of violence and some harassment-related offences.
Shoplifting remained steady in both places.
Glastonbury recorded 15 shoplifting offences in both February and March, while Street recorded 16 in both months.
Anti-social behaviour fell in Glastonbury, from 23 reports in February to 13 in March. In Street, it rose from nine to 11.
Anti-social behaviour can include nuisance behaviour, intimidation or activity causing alarm in public places.
Public order offences dropped across both communities.
Glastonbury recorded five public order offences in March, down from 15 in February. Street recorded nine, down from 11.
Public order offences can include threatening, abusive or disorderly behaviour.
Criminal damage and arson fell in Glastonbury but rose in Street.
Glastonbury recorded seven offences in March, down from 10 in February. Street recorded eight, up from six.
This category covers damage to homes, vehicles, businesses or public property.
Burglary fell in Glastonbury, from five offences to one. In Street, burglary remained unchanged, with one offence recorded in both months.
Other theft fell in Glastonbury, from nine offences to three, but rose in Street, from four to six.
Drug offences rose in both communities.
Glastonbury recorded four drug offences in March, up from two in February. Street recorded three, up from one.
Robbery fell slightly in Glastonbury, from four offences to three. In Street, robbery remained unchanged at one offence.
Vehicle crime also fell in both places.
Glastonbury recorded three vehicle crimes in March, down from four in February. Street recorded one, down from three.
One theft from the person was recorded in Glastonbury in March, while one bicycle theft was recorded in Street.
Three offences were listed as other crime in Glastonbury in March, down from four in February. Street recorded two other crimes in both months.
The figures are monthly recorded crime statistics. The data notes that it can take up to 30 days for the previous month's statistics to become available.
The March figures show a mixed picture locally, with recorded crime falling in Glastonbury while rising in Street.
