Glastonbury Life Factory funds recovery still ongoing
By Laura Linham 6th May 2026
Somerset Council has confirmed it is still trying to recover public money from the failed Life Factory project in Glastonbury, while police continue to assess whether any criminal offences may have been committed.
The Glastonbury Town Deal scheme collapsed after funding was paused, prompting the council to seek repayment of money already paid out.
A Somerset Council spokesperson said: "The Council continues to seek recovery of the funding provided, in line with its responsibilities to secure value for money. We will continue to consider all appropriate options to recover public funds.
"At present, the Council is not taking any further action in relation to Red Brick Building Centre Ltd itself, while the Board continues to develop a recovery plan."
Avon and Somerset Police have confirmed the case remains under review.
A spokesperson said: "The matter is currently under review by a Designated Fraud Investigator within our Fraud Team, to assess whether any criminal offences may have been committed."
The investigation is ongoing.
