Fire crews tackle blaze at Glastonbury car body shop

Firefighters from Glastonbury, Street, and Wells were called to tackle a major fire at a car body shop on Dyehouse Lane this morning (March 4).
The fire broke out at 9:45am, with residents reporting large amounts of smoke rising from the scene. Crews from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service responded swiftly, using breathing apparatus, hose reel jets, main jets, and safety jets to bring the blaze under control.
The building suffered 20 per cent fire damage but was 80 per cent damaged by smoke.
A spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: "At 9:34am today, we were called to a fire at a commercial property on Dyehouse Lane in Glastonbury. Three appliances from Glastonbury, Street, and Wells fire stations attended. A building that was being used as a spray and paint booth, measuring 20m x 15m, was 20% damaged by fire and 80% damaged by smoke."
The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
Firefighters remained at the scene for some time to dampen down hotspots and ensure the area was safe. No injuries have been reported.
