The recent inspection of Baltonsborough Church of England Voluntary Controlled Primary School has highlighted both areas of strength and opportunities for improvement in the school's offerings.

Conducted on 15th and 16th November 2023, the inspection report, while noting the school's overall effectiveness as 'requires improvement', has underlined several positive aspects, particularly in behaviour, personal development, and early years provision.

The school's commitment to its pupils is evident in its motto, 'Hand in hand we live and learn'. The inspection report reflects this ethos, pointing out that "Baltonsborough wants the best for all pupils and aims for them to be successful." This spirit is exemplified by peer mentors who guide and support younger pupils, fostering a nurturing environment.

In terms of personal development and mental health support, the report commends the school's efforts: "Pupils are clear about how to support this. They know who they can reach out to for support. This helps them to feel happy and safe."

The school's focus on mental health is a crucial aspect of its support system, ensuring students feel secure and valued.

The report also praises the school's extracurricular activities, including musical opportunities such as attending concerts and participating in key celebrations like 'Easter unscrambled'. Clubs like chess and 'pom pom' are popular among pupils, indicating a healthy range of activities outside the regular curriculum.

In early years education, Baltonsborough Primary has been particularly successful.

The report notes, "Leaders have decided on the most important knowledge children need to learn." This focused approach in early years is showing positive results, with children making good progress through the curriculum.

According to the report, "The new headteacher has driven school improvement with a sharp focus on the curriculum."

While the school recognises the need for improvement in certain areas, such as curriculum design and subject leadership, the inspection has provided valuable insights. The report suggests the need to "develop the leadership of subjects so that weaknesses in the curriculum can be addressed quickly."

Due to the Christmas holidays, the school could not be contacted for additional comments and there were no posts or letters to parents regarding the report posted on their website.

The full report is available for public viewing, offering a detailed insight into the school's current status and future potential.
