The Mid-Somerset Orchestra is thrilled to invite local families to its latest concert, a musical journey through some of the most evocative and stirring works of the orchestral repertoire. This enchanting matinee performance will take place on Sunday 17th November at 3pm at Strode Theatre in Street.
Introduced by compere Neil Howiantz, and under the baton of conductor Hitoshi Suzuki, the Mid-Somerset Orchestra promises a program that will engage, surprise, and inspire audiences of all ages. Highlights of the afternoon will include:
Grieg's Norwegian Dances - lively folk rhythms that celebrate the heart of Norway;
Saint-Saëns' Danse Macabre - a thrilling, eerie dance with death, featuring orchestra leader Marianne Sutton as violin soloist;
Rimsky-Korsakov's The Snow Maiden Suite - an enchanting winter tale of a magical maiden;
Elgar's Enigma Variations - the famous suite of musical portraits including the emotionally stirring Nimrod.
