Matilda Moore, a first-team netball player at Millfield, has been chosen for the U17 Northern Ireland Long Squad for the 2023-24 season.

Matilda secured her place after participating in a series of demanding trials. She now aims to play for Northern Ireland in several international events, including the U17 European Championships in Gibraltar, scheduled for March 2024.

Speaking about her selection, Matilda expressed her excitement at the prospect of competing internationally and representing her country.

Beginning her netball journey at just eight years old with Gurnard Netball Club on the Isle of Wight, Matilda, now 16, joined Millfield in Lower Sixth in September. Recognised for her skills as a shooter, she is also part of the Team Bath Performance Pathway.

Reflecting on her move to Millfield, Matilda shared, "Joining Millfield has been a long-held aspiration. My move here for Lower Sixth was to elevate my netball playing. Being at a school where everything is accessible is a significant change from my years of commuting from the Isle of Wight for netball. The team at Millfield is close-knit, training almost daily, and the level of netball, coupled with excellent coaching and supportive people, makes it an enriching experience. I've already learned so much and am eager for what lies ahead."

Jenna Adamson, Director of Netball at Millfield, commented on Matilda's achievement, "We are overjoyed with Matilda's selection for the Northern Ireland U17 Squad. Her talent and dedication make her a standout player with a promising future. I am eager to see Matilda excel internationally and to follow her development throughout the season."

Millfield boasts a range of specialist netball staff, including highly experienced coaches and players who have been involved in Senior International Squads, the Netball Superleague, the England Performance pathway, and Premier League Clubs. Each year, Millfield athletes represent Superleague franchises in various age categories within the National Performance League and at Superleague levels.
