The awards, organised by Somerset Activity & Sports Partnership (SASP) highlight the achievements and successes of inspirational volunteers, outstanding coaches, talented athletes and high quality and friendly clubs from across the county.

Glastonbury Chess Club defeated local rivals Wells in the first round of the Somerset Cup last week after a sensational late recovery.

Street and District Swimming Club were in action this weekend in round 2 of the National Arena Swim League.

The club is swimming in the Premier Division this season, meaning they are often competing against much larger swim teams such as Cardiff and Poole.

A goal deep into injury time saw Glastonbury FC lose out to visitors Frome Town Sports in a 4-3 thriller at the Abbey Moor Stadium.

Glastonbury dominated for large parts of a competitive game and despite creating numerous chances found themselves only 1-0 up at half time.

Former Glastonbury player Jos Buttler was involved in the winning run-out that secured the 2019 Cricket World Cup for England in dramatic fashion.

Buttler, who played for Glastonbury from 2006 for three years and who grew up in Wedmore, ran out Martin Guptill in the final ball of the final's super over after England and New Zealand tied on scores after 50 overs.
