The mum of World Cup winning cricket hero Jos Buttler, who played for Glastonbury as a teenager, has said that his charity auction of a signed shirt is encouraging others to donate to the cause.

Patricia Buttler has given some background behind the auction of the shirt Jos wore to win the World Cup, which has been signed by the team, and she said that it has meant other people have backed the charity it is raising money for.

St Dunstan's Year 8 pupils showed exactly how proficient they are in the art of public speaking last week when they came first and third in Youth Speaks; a prestigious national competition organised by the Rotary Club.

All participants had to abide by the rules of the competition which include memorising speeches, using cue cards and confidently speaking to a large audience. In addition, teams had to present their debates within a strict time restriction of 15 minutes in total as well as responding to a question from the audience.

St Dunstan's Bake Off

The St Dunstan's Bake Off was another triumph this year.

All students worked exceptionally well and should be incredibly proud of themselves. The winning dish was a cheese and onion quiche made by Jesse in year 7. Joint second place went to Coral in year 7 for her breakfast pie, and Louise in year 11 for her turkey and leek pie.

The school is already looking ahead to 2020 and seeing how students progress with their cooking skills ready for next year's Bake Off!
