Wired, hired & slightly fried: Glastonbury jobs this week

A blend of roles: engineering, education, hospitality, and more, from skilled Electricians to part-time food prep jobs.

It's a lively old mix this week. Whether you're an engineer who knows your Paxtons from your Protecs, or someone who just wants to wash dishes and go home with dry shoes, there's something worth a click.

First up, a Fire and Security Service Engineer is wanted in Glastonbury by a big national firm. This is the sort of job where you know your Hikvisions and your Texecoms, and you can do fault-finding with a smile. It's full-time, permanent, and pays up to £42k with perks like a van for personal use, paid travel time, mental health schemes, and the all-important birthday off.

Over in the world of electrics, a local housing association is looking for a qualified Electrician around Street. It's a permanent gig, paying £41,056 plus overtime, with a van and fuel card. You'll need your NVQ Level 3, 18th Edition and a fondness for social housing jobs that keep your toolbox busy.

If you're more CAD mouse than hammer, there's a Principal Mechanical Engineer role based in Bristol (but with hybrid working if you can handle the Stoke Gifford commute twice a week). This one's senior-level, full-time, and all about big-picture systems design—nuclear background not essential, but a bit of drawing board swagger is.

Teaching-wise, a Primary Teacher is needed in Somerset from September 2025. It's a contract position with potential to become permanent, and pay scales from £140–£180 a day. Ideal if you're confident with the curriculum, ready to inspire small humans, and want a school that's genuinely supportive rather than just saying it.

For those with SEND experience, there's a Primary Teacher in Specialist Provision needed too. It's also starting September 2025, supporting children with ASC, SEMH and other complex needs. Strong classroom management and a soft spot for therapeutic teaching approaches will go far here.

Street's also hiring a Lecturer in Maths (two posts, actually) to teach from Entry Level up to GCSE Foundation. Full-time, permanent, and up to £33k with a 28.7% pension contribution and that mythical "wellbeing day." Perfect for those who can explain long division without crying.

Also up the education ladder: Assistant Principal – Student Experience at Strode College. A hefty role with a £61k salary, leading student wellbeing strategy as part of the new UCS College Group. Think big-picture policy stuff, community links, and meetings that require a lot of nodding and possibly biscuits.

Meanwhile, back in hospitality, DBS Chefs are wanted for care homes and schools in Glastonbury—temporary work but important stuff if you're kitchen-confident and cleared for working around vulnerable folks.

A Catering Supervisor is also needed full-time with Compass Group at Chartwells. It's £13.31/hour and all about keeping the kitchen running smoothly, with the usual Compass polish and paperwork.

And for those after flexible weekend hours and fewer spreadsheets, The Loft Lounge in Street is after a Part-Time Wash-Up and Food Prep Assistant. It's casual, mostly weekends, and well suited to school leavers or anyone looking to top up the bank account without making a full career move.

Lastly, for tutors who prefer one-on-one work, Prospero is hiring a SEND Specialist Tutor in Glastonbury. Flexible hours, £30/hour, and a focus on helping young people who can't currently access school education. Think therapeutic teaching with real impact, often outside the classroom.

That's your lot for now—whether it's alarms, algebra or aprons, there's something local with your name on it. If nothing here quite fits, the Glastonbury jobs board is always worth a look.
