Glastonbury's Wild Moon Morris has showcased their unique take on Morris dancing on the international stage, performing in Portugal just days after being recognised in Parliament for their dedication to Celtic heritage, folklore, and seasonal traditions.

The innovative Morris dancing group performed on 2 February at the official opening of the Celtic Settlement in Moredo, a major cultural event coinciding with Imbolc, the Pagan festival marking the arrival of spring. Their performance was part of a wider celebration of Celtic and folk traditions, featuring groups from across the UK and Portugal.

Ahead of their performance, Sarah Dyke, MP for Somerton and Glastonbury, tabled an Early Day Motion in Parliament, recognising Wild Moon Morris for their dedication to community engagement, folklore, and dance.

Speak ing about their achievements, she said: "I thoroughly enjoyed dancing with Wild Moon Morris recently, they're a brilliant group and I'm delighted they've been recognised internationally. Their invitation to perform at such a prestigious event is a testament to their dedication and artistry. I'm proud to see them represent our community on an international stage and celebrate the arrival of spring with fellow performers from the UK and Portugal."

Wild Moon Morris performed alongside Pauliterias de Malhadas, the UNESCO-recognised Careto Demons, and The Academic Iberica da Mascara, bringing together British and Portuguese Celtic traditions in a unique cultural exchange.

The event was made possible through the support of the people of Glastonbury, as well as Moredo Town Council, City Council Braganca, and the International Art Co-operative.

Sarah Dyke added: "This cultural collaboration is a powerful reminder of how the arts can unite communities across borders, celebrating our shared histories and traditions. I wish Wild Moon Morris the greatest success as they continue to bring the spirit of Glastonbury to the world."

With their distinctive style and commitment to revitalising folk dance traditions, Wild Moon Morris continues to be a standout presence in Glastonbury's cultural scene. Their performance in Portugal has further cemented their reputation as a leading force in modern Morris dancing, bringing their energy and creativity to new audiences.
