Residents of Street have been granted an extension to submit their views on plans for up to 160 new homes west of Brooks Road.

Originally set to close on September 27, the public consultation has now been extended until October 2, giving the community additional time to respond to the proposed development.

The Trustees of the JD Clark 1984 Settlement are behind the consultation, which outlines plans for a mix of homes and potentially a community hub.

Access to the site will be provided south of Avalon School, with pedestrian and cycle routes linking the area to Quarry Batch and Higher Brooks Road. The southern section of the land will remain undeveloped to enhance biodiversity, with features such as orchards, wetlands, and a potential woodland walking trail.

The site will include a mix of one- to four-bedroom homes, with 30 per cent allocated as affordable housing. It will also feature pedestrian and cycle routes linking it to Quarry Batch and Higher Brooks Road, with a large portion of the southern area set aside for biodiversity enhancements like wetlands and orchards. The proposed plans also explore the potential for a community hub and play area.

Residents are encouraged to share their feedback by the new deadline, ahead of a formal planning application expected in early 2025.
