A local chippie, recently crowned Restaurant of the Year at the National Fish and Chip Awards 2024 has cut ties with Uber Eats following a string of incidents, including a £30 meal being dumped in the road, three houses away from the customer's address.

Knights Fish Restaurant aired its frustrations in a strongly worded social media post, sharing an image of the abandoned meal and outlining several serious issues they claim to have faced while working with the delivery giant.

According to the post, Uber Eats drivers have repeatedly failed to deliver orders correctly, with food being left in the rain and, in one instance, a driver allegedly swearing at the restaurant's staff. The restaurant described frequent delays, with one delivery taking 40 minutes to reach a customer just streets away. Adding to the chaos, some drivers reportedly texted customers in a different language, further complicating the experience.

Faced with these ongoing issues, Knights Fish Restaurant has decided to suspend deliveries with Uber Eats from Monday, 30th September, instead opting to use their own drivers. They believe this move will improve service and allow them to expand their delivery radius to include Pilton, Wells, Keinton Mandeville, and Catcott.

A spokesperson for Knights added: "We strongly advise people to order directly with businesses to avoid the many failings we've encountered with Uber Eats."

We have approached Uber Eats for comment but have not received a response.
