Glastonbury Care Home completes 24‑hour cycling challenge – Pedalling the distance from Somerset to Paris!

Brunelcare's Glastonbury Care Home has raised nearly £600 after staff, residents and families pulled off a gruelling 24-hour cycleathon — clocking up 432 miles, the same as riding from the care home all the way to Paris.
The pedals didn't stop spinning from 10am on Monday 8 September to 10am the next day, with 31 volunteers taking turns in shifts of up to an hour to keep the bike moving round the clock.
Manager Edwin Jose said: "We are so proud of everyone who took part in the cycle ride. Spirits were high throughout, and it was a real team effort from staff, residents, and family members. A special thank you goes to Lou, Jini, and Amal for keeping the bike going overnight, and to Molly who helped bring us home in style on the final morning."
The effort raised £587, which will go straight into the residents' activities fund to help deliver more meaningful moments and improve quality of life across the home.
The Homemaking Team behind the event praised the "determination and enthusiasm" of everyone involved, calling it a brilliant show of community spirit that brought people together and made a real difference.
