West Mendip Primary Care Network (PCN) is focusing on men's physical and mental health this October, hosting a free drop-in event to raise awareness of the challenges many men face.

The event, called MoMENtum: A Wellness Spotlight for Men, will take place at Glastonbury Town Hall on Sunday, October 6, from 10am to 4pm. It is being run in partnership with Glastonbury Town Council and the Somerset Prostate Support Association (SPSA), and will bring together a number of healthcare and wellbeing organisations. Among those attending are NHS Somerset Integrated Care Board (ICB), Healthwatch Somerset, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, ManKind Initiative, and the local Men's Shed.

As well as offering general advice and information, West Mendip PCN staff will be on hand to direct visitors to relevant services and organisations.

As part of the event, SPSA is inviting men aged 40 and over to register for a free PSA test, which can help detect prostate cancer early. Peter Hopwood, Chair of SPSA, said: "One in eight men in the UK will be diagnosed with prostate cancer. Early diagnosis can make all the difference to successful treatment."

The confidential PSA tests will take around 10 to 15 minutes and will be conducted by qualified medical professionals. Tests must be booked in advance via www.mypsatests.org.uk, and further information can be obtained by contacting Peter on 01458 441669.

West Mendip PCN works with five GP practices in Glastonbury, Wells, and Street, aiming to provide more accessible and personalised care. Dr Kate Rush, Clinical Director at West Mendip PCN, said: "This event is an important opportunity to get men talking about their health and taking steps towards a healthier future by connecting with local organisations and resources."

Glastonbury Town Clerk, Conor Ogilvie-Davidson, added: "This event is in line with our plans to improve health and wellbeing facilities in the town centre through the St Dunstan's House Community Health and Wellbeing Centre, supported by the £23.6 million Glastonbury Town Deal. We hope to host more events like this in the future."

Attendees are encouraged to register in advance to help with planning, but everyone is welcome to attend even if they haven't registered.he event, please visit https://rebrand.ly/momentum/pcn
