The Wessex Hotel in Street will be the backdrop for a TV series produced by 60Forty Films, temporarily closing from 16th to 22nd September.

The Wessex Hotel in Street will be closed from Monday 16th September to Sunday 22nd September to accommodate the filming of a currently undisclosed TV series produced by 60Forty Films.

The hotel will reopen on Monday 23rd September, with regular services resuming for guests.

While the production company is keeping details of the project under wraps, 60Forty Films is renowned for producing hit TV shows such as Hijack, starring Idris Elba, and Slow Horses, available on Apple TV+.

The company, led by Emmy Award-winning producers Jamie Laurenson and Hakan Kousetta, has a reputation for working on high-profile projects, including the upcoming thriller Down Cemetery Road.

During the filming period, there will be some disruption, including stop/go traffic controls on the High Street outside the hotel on Thursday 19th September (9am-8pm) and Friday 20th September (10am-1pm). A small lighting crane will also be positioned in the car park on Somerton Road.

The production team has assured residents and businesses that any disruption will be minimal, with local authorities working closely to manage the process smoothly.

For any concerns, production representatives will be available on-site throughout the filming. The Wessex Hotel is excited to be featured in the upcoming series and looks forward to reopening and sharing its role on screen with the local community.
