The Market House in Glastonbury has reopened following a £260,000 refurb.

Changes to the popular pub on Magdalene Street include a bigger bar, and the installation of five (soon to be six) television screens which will be showing big sporting events.

But pub company Stonegate – which owns the Market House – says that the pub "has remained a hub for the community but with a more modern, fresher feel."

Sixteen new jobs have also been created.

There's a new menu too, with everything from mammoth sharing plates and tapas-style dishes, to pub classics, breakfasts, Sunday roasts and Bottomless Brunches. There is also an extensive drinks menu that includes cocktails, and an array of local and regional beers and cask ales, which include Funky Monkey, Thatchers and Carlsberg. The local cask ales will be changed frequently offering a range of variety. The Market House also have 2 for 1 glasses and pitchers available at specified times and not to mention their Gin Tree for sharing.

Lee Hazell, General Manager of The Market House, said: "I am so excited about the future of The Market House. The team love the pub's polished new look and can't wait to show people around every time a new visitor walks in the door. The new drinks menu truly has something for everybody.

"It is a new chapter in the storied history of the pub and I cannot wait to see it go from strength to strength. We are delighted to welcome guests and the community again."

There are a range of events planned at The Market House, including the screening of live sports events, quiz nights and open mic nights. Follow them on Facebook to keep up to date with everything that is happening.
