Concerns over dangerous parking outside Brookside School in Street have prompted increased patrols by local PCSOs, who are working to address the issue and ensure the safety of parents and children.

PCSOs Tim Richards and Elaine Cave have been patrolling the area during busy drop-off and pick-up times, responding to reports of vehicles obstructing pathways and posing risks to pedestrians.

On Wednesday, the officers used 'Parking Buddies'—child-shaped signs designed to raise awareness and encourage safer parking habits.

PCSO Cave highlighted the widespread nature of the problem, saying: "This issue isn't unique to Brookside; many schools in the area face similar challenges. The parking restrictions outside schools are there for everyone's safety and must be respected."

To help manage the problem, the PCSOs have requested regular visits from parking wardens to enforce restrictions from the county council.

PSCO Cave added: "We can only educate drivers and hope common sense prevails, but unfortunately, that's not always the case. We've provided Brookside School with 'Parking Buddies' to use when we're unable to attend, and we encourage parents and the public to report persistent issues to the enforcement team."

Those wishing to report dangerous parking can contact Somerset Parking Enforcement on 01823 219035 or by emailing [email protected].
