Plans to build barn on the edge of Glastonbury refused
Plans to build a barn on the outskirts of Glastonbury have been turned down by Mendip District Council.
A planning application for the building of an agricultural building for storage on land off of Meare Road, Glastonbury, had been submitted by Mr and Mrs Goldsmith.
The proposed barn would have been situated on an existing agricultural field south of Meare Road, 115 metres from the River Brue.
In refusing the proposals, the planning officer said in their report: "The lack of a flood risk assessment means that the local planning authority is unable to fully assess the impact of flooding and climate change in accordance with national planning policy and legislation. The application should therefore be refused."
