Plans for a rural worker's home to be built at a growing fruit and vegetable business in Godney have been withdrawn.

A planning application for the building of a rural worker's dwelling and polytunnel at Myrtle Barn, Lower Godney, had been submitted to Mendip District Council by Melvyn Yeandle and Sally Mills of Godney Aquaponics.

The proposal was to build a modest sized cabin to house a full-time worker at the business that has been running since 2017.

The dwelling was required to allow a full-time employee to be readily available at all times, for the successful running of the business and to deal with emergencies, to assist with the harvest, packaging and other out of hours tasks along with the providing security and protection of the produce, machinery, commodities and animals against trespass, theft and vandalism, but the proposals have now been withdrawn.

No planning decisions have been made on applications in the Glastonbury area this week, and one planning application has been submitted:

Application for prior notification of agricultural development for a proposed building at Manor Farm, Kennard Moor Drove, Coxbridge, has been made by Mr Vernoum.
