Glastonbury MP Sarah Dyke has praised the town's newly opened health and wellbeing hub as a model for national healthcare reform and "a beacon of wellbeing for the future".

The Liberal Democrat MP said the transformation of St Dunstan's House was a "landmark moment" and a leading example of what joined-up care can achieve when councils, health services and communities work together.

St Dunstan's House, a Grade II listed building next to Glastonbury Town Hall, reopened this week as a Health and Wellbeing Hub. The redevelopment was funded by the Glastonbury Town Deal as part of the Government's Levelling Up programme.

Ms Dyke, who sits on the Town Deal Board, has written to Health Minister Wes Streeting calling on the Government to back more integrated, locally delivered healthcare services. She said hubs like St Dunstan's could play a key role in the NHS's 10-year plan, with a focus on prevention and community access.

She added: "This is a brilliant example of community and collaboration, which Glastonbury does so well. Through it, we've turned a historic building into a future-facing facility that will change lives."

The new centre combines physical and mental health services, support groups and social care under one roof, aiming to tackle local deprivation, poor health outcomes and isolation.
