A knife surrender bin has been installed at Street police station as part of efforts to reduce knife crime in the area.

The bin is positioned outside the front of the station and offers a safe, legal way for people to dispose of knives and other bladed items, including kitchen knives. This initiative is part of a broader knife crime prevention programme aimed at promoting safety in the local community.

A police spokesperson said: "The installation of this bin is an important step in our ongoing efforts to tackle knife crime. We urge the community to use this facility to safely dispose of knives and help keep our streets safe."

When using the bin, individuals are advised to securely wrap any blades before dropping them into the bin and shutting the lid.

The local police encourage residents to make use of the bin to help reduce the presence of knives on the streets and contribute to making the area safer for all.
