Street Striders Running Club is gearing up for a massive 48-hour runathon from 12pm on October 4th to 12pm on October 6th.

At least one member of the club will be running at all times during the event, as part of a major fundraising push to secure a permanent clubhouse.

The club, which started in April 2019 following the merger of two local running groups, now boasts over 120 members and is hoping to raise enough funds to establish a clubhouse on land provided by the Victoria Sports and Social Club in Street. The new facility would provide a dedicated space for members to rest, recover, and socialise.

Funds raised will go towards purchasing and outfitting the clubhouse with heating, lighting, and power, creating a safe and welcoming space for the club's activities. Street Striders is also known for its community work, including organising NHS Couch to 5k events, supporting mental health initiatives, and raising money for local charities like the Bridging the Gap Foodbank.

The runathon will require a significant team effort to keep the relay going non-stop for 48 hours, and the club is asking for donations to help them achieve their goal. Donations can be made through their crowdfunding page here.

Street Striders encourages everyone to get involved, whether by donating, spreading the word, or organising their own fundraising activities to support the club's new home.
