If you are looking for a job and are ready to help lead a team to construct some amazing building projects throughout the South West then this role in Glastonbury might be for you.

Building contractors Melhuish and Saunders are looking for a contracts manager, initially working remotely, but then from their Glastonbury headquarters once the coronavirus pandemic is over.

The right candidate will have high standards, be friendly, well-presented, enthusiastic, conscientious and trustworthy. They will also be professional, courteous, dedicated, forward thinking and a relaxed team player.

The contracts manager will be responsible for overseeing several construction projects and project teams.

They will co-ordinate, manage and lead projects from the initial design or construction stages through to a timely completion, to the highest of standards and within budget.

The role will involve continual close liaison, communication, monitoring and leadership of the project team, design team, sub-contractors, clients and direct employees.

The right candidate will apply the skills they already have in construction, management and leadership to ensure the success of the project completion.

Skills

  • Experience in managing others and good leadership/people management skills.
  • Good understanding and technical knowledge of the construction industry, including the ability to read architectural drawings and understand the construction process.
  • The ability to construct accurate and realistic construction programmes.
  • The ability to fit in well, work as a team member and have initiative and enthusiasm.
  • Good communication skills and good working attitude towards clients and architects.
  • You will be well organised and capable of meeting deadlines.
  • Good English, maths and IT skills are essential with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Project Commander and Outlook is desirable.
  • A good knowledge and understanding of the latest health and safety legislation and building regulations.
  • You should have a good understanding of all aspects of the contracting process and contract law.
  • Good commercial sense is imperative. You will also be experienced in decision making.

Salary: £44,000 to £48,000 per year
