Plans submitted for a development of 37 homes and a cafe in Butleigh

Plans have been submitted to Mendip District Council for a 37-home housing development and cafe to be built in Butleigh.

The planning application for the development of 37 dwellinghouses (C3) and a cafe/work hub (E) with associated access, parking and landscaping on land at Baltonsborough Road, Butleigh, has been submitted by Galion Homes Ltd.

This application relates to an area of agricultural land to the east of Back Town and south west of Baltonsborough Road on the eastern edge of Butleigh.

The site is relatively level and measures 11.8 hectares in total, with the development area being 4.6 hectares.

The site is bounded by the playing field, pavilion and Back Town to the west, Back Town and agricultural land to the south, further agricultural land to the east and Baltonsborough Road to the north west.

The proposal is to build five two-bedroom dwellings, 17 three-bedroom dwellings, 13 four-bedroom dwellings and two five-bedroom dwellings.

Included within this would be 11 affordable homes, made up of five social rented units and six shared ownership units.

Other planning applications in the Glastonbury area that have been submitted to Mendip District Council this week include:

Erection of a bat roosting tower at Station Farm, Shapwick Road, Westhay, has been applied for by Mr Thomas Kitching.

Installation of a new jet wash bay and a new floodlight, new air water and vacuum bay and two car parking spaces are wanted at Wirral Park Service Station, Wirral Park Road, Glastonbury.

Application to vary part-condition 2 (drawing number R126/01) of planning approval 2020/1729/LBC to remove wall between utility and kitchen at Lottisham Manor, Lottisham Lane, Lottisham, has been made by Helenka Maciej-Hill.

Planning applications in the Glastonbury area that have been decided by Mendip District Council this week include:

Erection of garage/workshop following the demolition of existing outbuilding and erection of single storey north elevation extension and two storey south elevation extension at Plot Street Cottage, Plot Street, West Bradley, by Mr and Mrs Mick Battye has been approved.

Engineering operation to create wildlife pond at Laverley House, Stockbridge Lane to Steanbow, West Pennard, by Mr and Mrs Habib and Fiona Rahman has been approved.

Application for approval of details reserved by conditions 5 (part discharge) (joinery details - two dormer windows) at Higher Farm, West Bradley Lane, West Bradley, by Dr Rebecca Browning has been approved.

Siting of a mobile coffee van on Fridays to Sundays and bank holidays at R J Draper And Co Ltd, Chilkwell Street, Glastonbury, by Mrs Celia Wood has been approved.

Application for confirmation of compliance with condition 1 on permission 2018/2722/REM (application for approval of reserved matters following outline approval 2015/2532/OTS for the erection of 16 dwellings and associated access, matters of access/appearance/landscaping/layout/scale to be determined) on land to the west of Date Palms Ltd, Ham Street, Baltonsborough, has been refused.
