Glastonbury's packed weekend of events: from music gigs to charity afternoons
If you're wondering what's happening in Glastonbury this week, we've got you covered.
From musical gigs to community events, there's something for everyone to enjoy. We'd like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to The King Arthur for their continued sponsorship of our newsletter. We're thrilled to also congratulate them for being included in this year's CAMRA's Good Beer Guide.
Kicking off the week on Friday, 13th October, is a performance by Thee CROW. The live music event will take place from 19:00 to 23:00 at The King Arthur on Benedict Street. It promises to be an exciting evening of energetic tunes that will have you tapping your feet.
Moving on to Saturday, 14th October, Glastonbury Town Hall on Magdalene Street will host a Craft and Vintage fair from 11:30 to 17:30. This is the perfect opportunity to discover unique crafts and vintage treasures. On the same day, St Benedict's Church on Benedict Street will offer a more meditative experience with a Singing Circle & Sound Bath from 16:30 to 19:00. Later in the evening, The King Arthur will feature another live performance: The Witching Tale alongside Queen Space Baroque, running from 19:00 to 23:00.
We also have a special highlight for the community this Saturday. Orchard Vets is hosting a charity afternoon from 13:00 to 16:00. It's a fantastic way to spend your Saturday and it's all for a good cause. Plus, there will be afternoon tea and a raffle to enjoy. T he event aims to raise funds for The Cinnamon Trust, which assists with walking pets for the elderly, and Search and Scan Somerset, a vital service that reunites lost pets with their families.
A special highlight for Saturday is also happening at the Strode Theatre in Street. you The Friends of Strode Theatre are presenting a Festival of Music, Song, Dance, Comedy & Drama in celebration of Strode Theatre's 60th Anniversary. There are two opportunities to attend: one at 2:30 PM and another at 7:30 PM. Tickets are priced at £15 and £10. The festival will feature performances from a variety of local talent, including Avalon Free State Choir, Cosmic, Crispin School, Glastonbury & Street Musical Comedy Society, Glastonbury Male Voice Choir, South West School of Dance, Street Theatre Company, Strode College Music & Performing Arts, Strode Theatre Productions, Taking the Space, and Topaz Dance.
The weekend wraps up on Sunday, 15th October, starting with a Wedding Fair a little out of town at The Bishop's Palace & Gardens in Wells, from 11:00 to 15:00. Back in Glastonbury, St John the Baptist's Church on High Street will host 'Autumn Serenade,' a choral music performance, from 16:00 to 18:00. Finally, music fans can end their week on a high note at The Assembly Rooms on High Street, where Jo Beth Young will perform at 19:30.
So, mark your calendars and take advantage of all the enriching experiences Glastonbury has to offer this week.
