The latest edition of CAMRA's Good Beer Guide has just been released, highlighting some of the best pubs across the UK.

This year, two of Glastonbury's most loved pubs, the George & Pilgrims and the King Arthur, have gained special mentions in the guide.

George & Pilgrims

Located on High Street near the Market Cross, George & Pilgrims is a three-storied Grade I-listed stone-built gatehouse inn. It's hard to miss its panelled embattled frontage and mullion windows. According to the Good Beer Guide, "Walking through the stout doorway there is a corridor leading to the rear patio and several tabled alcoves on the right. The Pilgrims Bar on the left oozes old-world charm, including medieval artefacts. There are four well-kept real ales and a choice of ciders. It is worthwhile reading about the history of the inn over a pint."

The King Arthur

Nestled at 31-33 Benedict Street, the King Arthur is described as a "lively free house hidden just off the High Street." The guide further adds, "It concentrates on beer, a good range of ciders, and music. An interesting mix of people support the pub. There is a garden and music venue room with regular live music most nights. Parking is available in the street only or the town car parks. Bus routes are within easy walking distance."

Both pubs received praise for their extensive beer selections, unique atmospheres, and commitment to providing quality experiences for locals and visitors alike.

CAMRA Chairman Nik Antona said: "The last few years have been an incredibly difficult time for the industry, and we need more support than ever before to keep our nation's pubs and breweries open and thriving. I'd encourage everyone to use this year's Guide to visit the very best pubs and breweries across the UK and support them for generations to come."

The recognition in the Good Beer Guide is a high honour for the local establishments, coming at a crucial time when many pubs are still recovering from the pandemic and other economic challenges. It serves as a testament to the enduring quality and resilience of Glastonbury's pub scene.
