Glastonbury Town Council paid tribute to former mayor Bill Knight at a recent meeting, honouring his contributions to the town and holding a minute's silence in his memory.

Knight, who served as mayor in 2011, was remembered as a dedicated and well-liked member of the community.

Councillors shared their memories of him, highlighting his involvement in local businesses, Glastonbury in Bloom, and the restoration of The Lamb Inn.

Cllr Nick Cottle recalled first meeting Knight through the Chamber of Commerce and spoke about his transformation of The Lamb Inn. "Bill turned it from what was a drinking den into a really nice pub that even won awards for its toilets," he said.

"He was always very pleasant, very personable, and took a big interest in Glastonbury in Bloom, helping out in the early days,

Knight also gained national recognition when he was featured on Mark Steele's in Town, representing Glastonbury's character and spirit.

A unity candle was lit in his honour, and a minute's silence was held in Knight's memory.
