Glastonbury Town Council has formed a new World Heritage Status Working Group following its full council meeting on 14 January 2025.

The group will consist of 16 members, including 12 members of the public and four town councillors. The council is inviting applications from residents interested in joining the working group, with the deadline set for 5pm on 31 January 2025.

Applicants are encouraged to share their connection to Glastonbury, their reasons for wanting to be involved, and the level of commitment they can offer, as regular evening meetings will be held at least once a month.

A spokesperson for the council said: "We encourage those with a genuine interest in Glastonbury's heritage to apply and help shape the town's bid for World Heritage Status."

The group will follow the council's Code of Conduct and Terms of Reference, which include the Nolan Principles of public service, ensuring a fair and open-minded approach to the project.

Applications can be submitted by email to [email protected] or handed in at the Town Hall. More details can be found on the council's website.
