One person has been taken to hospital after a car collided with a lamp post on the A39 in Glastonbury.

A person has been taken to hospital following a single-vehicle crash on the A39 in Glastonbury this morning (Wednesday, 15 January).

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 10:30am after reports that a car had left the carriageway and collided with a lamp post.

A spokesperson for the police confirmed: "Emergency services arrived at the scene to find a car had left the carriageway and collided with a lamp post. One person has been taken to hospital, and the road has been closed."

The extent of the person's injuries has not been disclosed. Motorists were advised to seek alternative routes while the road remains closed for safety assessments and recovery.
