Glastonbury Abbey Park revamp moves closer with six designs

Plans for a major revamp of Abbey Park in Glastonbury are moving forward, with the town council's play parks working group considering six different designs.

Deputy Mayor Cllr Lokabandhu told the Full Council meeting on Tuesday, 8 September that the group had made "really good progress" and was getting close to asking the public what they thought.

He said: "We've made really good progress, I think, on soliciting designs for a real revamp of Abbey Park."

Cllr Lokabandhu also confirmed that money had been set aside within the council's budget for the project.

The play parks working group met the previous week and considered six different designs for the park.

Cllr Lokabandhu said: "Pretty soon we'll go out to the public to see what the public think of it, and then we'll choose one."

The council is hoping to move relatively quickly once a design has been chosen, with the works completed by 'early next year.'
