Glastonbury named as one of the top trending UK destinations according to Airbnb
Glastonbury has been named as one of the top 10 destinations in the UK this summer, according to the travel website and app Airbnb.
Standing at number four in the Airbnb top 10, Glastonbury is attracting plenty of interest despite the festival not taking place this year.
As of this weekend, people are now allowed to have overnight stays, and Airbnb has said it has seen a surge in bookings over the last week, with 70 per cent of stays booked being for domestic travel.
Of those trips, 60 per cent were for stays between two and six nights, and almost half were for a break within the next month.
Some 80 per cent of Airbnb bookings in the UK were made for stays within 50 to 300 miles of the booker's home.
An Airbnb spokesperson said: "The easing of government restrictions is good news not only for those keen to explore and stay beyond their own four walls again, but also for the hospitality industry and Airbnb hosts who depend on the income from hosting on our platform.
"In the last week we've seen a significant spike in demand as travel becomes a reality again, with our trending destinations showing people are keen to explore the many interesting towns and rural areas the nation has to offer, providing a welcome boost to local businesses.
"The safety of guests and hosts is our key priority and we have introduced comprehensive guidelines for cleaning and home sanitisation to do our bit to help people travel with peace of mind."
The trending top 10 UK destinations according to Airbnb are:
- Warton, Lancashire
- Duns, Scotland
- Snettisham, Norfolk
- Glastonbury, Somerset
- Rothbury, Northumberland
- Chapel Saint Leonards, Lincolnshire
- Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire
